Salted Caramel Rice Cereal Treats

A rich, gooey twist on the classic crispy rice treat! These indulgent bars are made with nutty browned butter, gooey mini marshmallows, a generous swirl of homemade caramel sauce, and crisp rice cereal, all finished with a touch of sea salt. Browned Butter Salted Caramel Rice Cereal Treats

A rich, gooey twist on the classic crispy rice treat! These indulgent bars are made with nutty browned butter, gooey mini marshmallows, a generous swirl of homemade caramel sauce, and crisp rice cereal, all finished with a touch of sea salt. Soft, chewy, buttery, and loaded with caramel flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

• 1 cup browned butter
• 20 oz mini marshmallows
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 12 oz crispy rice cereal
• Pinch of salt
• 1 ¾ c caramel sauce (I have a recipe for homemade)

Topping

• ¼ c caramel sauce
• Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

1. In a large stock pot, brown the butter over medium heat.
2. Once browned, reduce heat to low and add the marshmallows, 2 c crushed dried cherries and salt.
3. Stir until melted and smooth.
4. Add vanilla extract and crispy rice cereal. Turn off heat and mix until fully coated.
5. Transfer mixture to a parchment-lined sheet tray or baking dish.
6. Using lightly wet hands, press the mixture evenly and firmly into the pan.
7. Drizzle caramel over the top and then sprinkle flaky sea salt, if desired.
8. Allow treats to set for 2–3 hours before slicing into squares.
9. Enjoy!
