These soft, gooey rice cereal treats are packed with sweet strawberry flavor and rich browned butter for the ultimate nostalgic dessert upgrade. Finished with crunchy freeze-dried strawberries, they taste like a strawberry shortcake-inspired twist on the classic treat—beautiful, buttery, and irresistibly chewy.

Ingredients

• 1 cup browned butter
• 20 oz mini marshmallows
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup strawberry powder
• 12 oz crispy rice cereal
• Pinch of salt
• 1 oz freeze-dried strawberries, lightly crushed

Instructions

1. In a large stock pot, brown the butter over medium heat.
2. Once browned, reduce heat to low and add the marshmallows, strawberry powder, and salt.
3. Stir until melted and smooth.
4. Add vanilla extract and crispy rice cereal. Turn off heat and mix until fully coated.
5. Transfer mixture to a parchment-lined sheet tray or baking dish.
6. Using lightly wet hands, press the mixture evenly and firmly into the pan.
7. Sprinkle crushed freeze-dried strawberries over the top and gently press them in.
8. Allow treats to set for 2–3 hours before slicing into squares.
9. Enjoy!
