These cozy, bakery-style scones are packed with warm fall spices, tender chunks of apple, and rich buttery flavor. Finished with a sweet apple cider glaze, they strike the perfect balance between soft and crumbly, making them an irresistible treat for crisp mornings or afternoon coffee.

Ingredients

Scones

• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 Tbsp baking powder
• 1 tsp kosher salt
• 3 Tbsp brown sugar (or cane sugar)
• 1 Tbsp cinnamon
• ⅛ tsp nutmeg
• ¼ tsp ground clove
• 12 Tbsp cold butter, grated
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped

Glaze

• 8 oz powdered sugar
• 7 Tbsp apple cider reduction (or regular apple cider for a milder flavor)
• 1 Tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Mix well.
2. Add grated cold butter and incorporate into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.
3. Stir in buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and chopped apples. Mix until combined.
4. Transfer the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and shape into an 8–10 inch circle.
5. Slice the circle into 8 wedges like a pizza and slightly separate them on the pan.
6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool.
7. While the scones are cooling, mix the glaze ingredients and whisk until smooth.
8. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones and let it set completely before serving.
